Welcome to 2026!

We’re excited to kick off a new year and semester with a renewed focus on attendance and on-time arrival! Thanks to the support of our families and students, recent incentives have already improved overall attendance by 5% and reduced unexcused absences by 37%. This semester, we’re keeping the momentum going with fun rewards.

Be sure to join us for our basketball game on Tuesday against Whitthorne and our Winter Dance on Thursday. We look forward to an exciting week and a great start to the semester!

A few important reminders:
  • Temperatures are expected to dip. Please dress warmly when waiting for the bus or spending time outside.
  • Pullover hoodies, coats, blankets, and all electronic items must be stored in lockers during the school day.

8th Grade Pre-ACT – Tuesday, January 13

On Tuesday, January 13, all 8th graders will take the Pre-ACT! Please help your student arrive on time, as the test is fairly long and will be completed before lunch. Getting a good night’s sleep and eating breakfast will help them do their best. Remember free breakfast is available at school for all students.
The Pre-ACT is a great, low-pressure way for students to practice for the ACT they’ll take in high school. Since ACT scores are used for college entrance and scholarships, this is a wonderful chance to build confidence and get familiar with the test. Let’s encourage our students to take advantage of this opportunity and give it their best!

No Unexcused Absences Challenge

Students with no unexcused absences between January 6 and February 28 will be eligible to participate in our Chill Out Fest!

Please remember to submit absence notes via email, ParentSquare notification, or by dropping them off in the office. With the start of the new semester, each student has 5 parent notes available to use (unless the student is under truancy review).

We look forward to celebrating with every student has the opportunity to enjoy this special event!

No Unexcused Tardies Incentives

We’ve seen great improvement in on-time attendance with our On Time Turkeys and Tree-Mendous Attendance initiatives. Thank you for your continued support!

Now, we’re excited to kick off Snow Excuses! The grade level with the highest percentage of students arriving on time every day will earn a Free Seat Friday in the cafeteria.

Research shows that students who consistently arrive on time are more likely to succeed academically and develop habits that support future college and career readiness. Let’s keep the momentum going and start every day on time!

New Year Reminders for Car Rider Safety

The safety of our students is our highest priority. Recently, we’ve noticed some unsafe driving behaviors during arrival and dismissal, including cars going around other vehicles in the car rider line. This creates a dangerous situation, as students and staff are moving between cars.

For everyone’s safety, please follow these important guidelines:
  • Stay in the car rider line — do not drive around other vehicles.
  • Drive slowly and be prepared to stop at any time.
  • Follow staff directions and watch for students crossing.
  • Be patient — a few extra minutes helps keep every child safe.
We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to making our car line safe for all students!
