E.A. Cox Middle School February 2025 Hello Cougar Families It's Sunday, February 16th. There is no school tomorrow in honor of. . .
Dear Parents and Friends,
It is with great pleasure I write this letter of introduction to you as your new E. A. Cox Middle School principal. I am truly honored to return to the very school I opened in 1997. In just the initial interactions I have had with community leaders, staff, students and families thus far, it's become abundantly clear that our number ONE desire is to return CMS to the unique and special place that was created 27 years ago.
For the past 10 years I have been the principal at Spring Hill High School. While I loved my time as a Spring Hill Raider I could not resist the call of Cox Middle School. My heartfelt desire is to return CMS to a place where strong connections are made between home and school, and where staff members are committed to your child.
Professionally, I possess over 31 years of experience in the field of education and am licensed as a teacher with my doctorate in Administration and Supervision. Motivated by my positive experiences in school, I received my Bachelor's degree from MTSU and spent 10 years teaching middle school Science. I went on to earn my Master of Education from MTSU as well. Soon after, I decided to become an administrator based on my strong desire to positively impact the entire school community. I pursued a doctorate in Administration and Supervision at Tennessee State University and gained invaluable experience all while I was teaching here at CMS. However, it may be more important for you to know that I fully understand the challenges and rewards you face every day as you work to ensure your child has the best educational experience.
One of the most important aspects of my work here at CMS will be building strong relationships with students, teachers and families. You'll find me in the hallways, classrooms and at many school functions that involve my kids. Notice how I said MY kids? That is the way I view every student that walks through these doors. My passion has been and always will be educating students. With that in mind, you can expect that I will work diligently with teachers to make sure our students are exposed to curriculum and instruction that is both engaging and challenging. I have an open-door policy and welcome your input and ideas. My contact information is Dr. Christine Grzybowski Potts, 931-840-3902 or email me directly at cpotts@mauryk12.org. The 2024-25 school year at Cox will be an exciting return to quality education for all.
Sincerely,
Dr. Christine G. Potts
