Hello Cougar Families

This past week at the middle school was an eventful one, filled with cookie dough deliveries, an amazing Veterans Day program, and productive parent-teacher conferences. We want to thank our families and staff for contributing to such a positive and successful week. As we look ahead, this coming week will be the final stretch before Thanksgiving Break. Please remember that there will be no school from November 24–28.

We have several fun activities planned for the days ahead, including our spirit dress-up days. On Thursday, we will host our annual Glow Pep Rally, complete with a grade-level color war competition. Students will have the opportunity to purchase glow-in-the-dark spirit bundles for $5. Last year’s glow rally was a huge hit, and we are excited to bring the energy and excitement back again this year.

As the holiday season approaches, we want to remind families about our Student Christmas Store, and we are currently accepting donations of gently used, regiftable items. Donations may be dropped off either at the school or at Ollie & Finn’s downtown. In addition, our Christmas Angels are now available for adoption. If you are interested in sponsoring a student or a family, please reach out to Mrs. Owens for more information. Your generosity helps make the season brighter for those in our community.

We also want to recognize the improvements we’ve seen in student attendance. We truly appreciate everyone's efforts to arrive at school on time! There has been a noticeable decrease in tardies. Please continue to send in notes to excuse absences. Students with no unexcused absences will participate in a sweet treat just before Winter Break.

A another reminder to our students and guardians: pullover hoodies, blankets and all electronics must be stored in lockers.

Coming Home Spirit Week

Monday is Swap It Up. Teachers dress like students and students dress like teachers.

On November 20th, we’ll have our “Glow Big” Pep Rally! Students are encouraged to wear their grade-level neon colors and get ready to shine under the black lights. Cougar Glow items will also be available for purchase at the rally for $5.

It’s always a great time, and we’re so happy to celebrate our winter sports teams together!

Christmas Store Donations

It’s almost time for our favorite time of year! Our Annual Christmas Store, where students get to shop for special gifts for their loved ones! We’re looking for new or regift-quality items suitable for all ages - men, women, teens, grandparents, and children.

Donations can be dropped off at our school or at our community partner, Ollie & Finn’s.

Thank you for helping make this wonderful holiday tradition possible for our students! ❤️

Attendance Incentives

Coming to school and arriving on time is so important! We have several fun attendance incentives happening for our students this season.
This month, we’re keeping track of our “On Time Turkeys”! The grade level with the highest percentage of students arriving to school on time will earn a Free Seat Friday, in the cafeteria.

We’ll keep the fun going in December with our “Tree-mendous Attendance” challenge another great opportunity to celebrate being present and on time every day!

Every Minute Matters!

In addition to tracking attendance, we’re also keeping an eye on students’ timeliness throughout the day. Getting to class on time is just as important as being at school—every minute matters!
To qualify for Fun Friday, students must:
  • Arrive to class on time
  • Have all their work completed
  • Demonstrate positive behavior (no ISS or OSS)
And finally, we have a sweet reward coming up, right before Winter Break! Students with no unexcused absences between October 27 and December 17 will be invited to our Cotton Candy Social Hour. These students will enjoy cotton candy, time with friends, and the chance to relax with their phones.
