May 2025

Hello Cougar Families

We've finally made it to May! Just 2.5 more weeks and this school year is over! While we have lots going on - our school year is NOT OVER. We are still teaching, students are still learning, attendance still counts, and behavior is still important. We will continue to address every situation as it occurs, as we have all year. We may be counting down but we are not done yet!

With that said, please read on - there are lots of events going on and we don't want you to miss out!

  • Choir & Drama clubs are showing off their hard work with a Broadway Revue - May 8th & 9th at 6:30pm
  • Band will perform their final concert of the year in the gym, May 15 at 6:30pm
  • Cougar Carnival is Back for our students! May 16. Students must keep their end of year behavior in check, no suspensions and only 1 ISS between May 5 & May 16. Students who do not meet expectations, will not be able to attend and refunds will not be given.
  • W. 7th Church of Christ invites all CMS athletes and their families to join us at the athletic banquet on May 19 at 6pm
  • Award presentations for 5th, 6th & 7th grade on May 21st at 1pm. Invitations were sent home with students on Friday. This is invitation only event for the families of those receiving an award. Early sign is available with the permission slip that was also sent home.
  • 8th grade awards are May 22 at 9:30am. Invitations and permission slips were also sent home with students on Friday.
  • Immediately following 8th grade awards, we will celebrate our 8th graders with a clap out. Families are encouraged to line the sidewalks at the back of school at 10:30am to clap & cheer for their last day at CMS. Students may be released early with returned permission slips - we will send those home with all 8th graders sometime this coming week.
  • Lost & Found: We show daily pictures of our lost & found items on the TVs within the building. If your student has lost something, please have them check with Ms. NeeCee in the couselors office ASAP. All items will be donated at the end of the year.

An invitation to the E. A. Cox Middle School Athletic Banquet on May 19, 2025 at 6PM. The event will be held at 405 W 7TH ST, COLUMBIA, TN 38401 and is sponsored by West 7th Church of Christ.

Athletic Banquet

All CMS athletes and their guardians are invited to our Athletic Banquet on May 19th. Our community partner & gracious supporter, West 7th Church of Christ is sponsoring dinner at 405 W. 7th St.

7th grade Immunizations REQUIRED

A reminder to our current 6th grade guardians...by state law, all incoming 7th graders are required to have updated immunizations prior to starting 7th grade. Please take advantage of this clinic or schedule an appointment with your health care provider. Please do not wait until the week before school starts to complete this task. Inevitably, people wait until the last minute and providers are generally already booked.
