Wow! What a wonderful first week of TCAP testing! We appreciate your encouragements to help our students "do their best on test." Your efforts to have students at school before 7:45 was amazing - we went from 20-25 tardies per day down to 2 or 3! We applaud you and encourage you to keep up the timely arrivals.
Our students did well this week meeting "test mode" expectations. Those students that were present for the test, worked at least half of the given time, kept quiet and avoided distracting others were awarded with free time. A record number of students were outside soaking up sunshine every afternoon. We're proud of them and hope to see all our students enjoying this opportunity next week.
We know our students are amazing and capable in their academics and this week proves it! We are asking our Cougar families to continue taking this testing opportunity seriously for a few more days - we want our students to show what they know!
The end of the month is getting closer - by April 30th all of our returning students should be registered through the link below. We need the summer months to prepare schedules. Students who do not complete registration may not have scheduled classes on the first day back to school.
If you need help with registration, please stop by the school on Thursday, April 24 from 3-6pm in the library. We will have translators, staff and computers available to assist.
In other news, we have asked our students for several months to keep hoods off their heads while inside the building. This has been a daily battle - that is about to end. With warmer weather here, hoodies will be stored in lockers along with their cell phones. Students may wear hoodies to school but they must have a dress code appropriate shirt underneath, as hoodies will no longer be worn in the building. We don't like that it has come to this but after months of warnings - safety is our priority - no more hoodies.
