April 2025

A school event calendar with dates and descriptions for the 25/26 school year.

Hello Cougar Families

We hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break! The weather wasn't always cooperative but we were thankful for the break after the long stretch after Christmas. However, we are rested and ready to wrap up the school year! It's going to be fast and furious for the next few weeks...

In the graphic above, we've listed the big events planned for the remainder of the year. As these events draw near, we will provide more details including times, costs, etc.

TUESDAY we start TCAP testing in the county! Please continue to help your student get a good night's sleep, a healthy breakfast and arrive to school on time. Students who are not in class before 7:45am on test days, potentially may not be able to test with their class. Late students will be sequestered while testing occurs and then required to make up testing in the afternoon.

We have sent multiple reminders and messages about TCAP testing this past week. We know our students are amazing and capable in their academics - however, historically students have not always tried their best on standardized testing. We are asking our Cougar families to take this testing opportunity seriously - we want our students to show what they know and rock the TCAP!

All guardians need to register their students for next year! Registration closes on April 30th. We need the summer to prepare schedules. Students who do not complete registration may not have scheduled classes on the first day back to school. All Maury County Schools require on-line registration for all MCPS students!

7th grade Immunizations

A reminder to our current 6th grade guardians...by state law, all incoming 7th graders are required to have updated immunizations prior to starting 7th grade. Please take this time to schedule an appointment with your health care provider. Please do not wait until the week before school starts to complete this task. Inevitably, people wait until the last minute and providers are generally already booked.

A detailed letter will be coming home with your 6th grader in the next few weeks.

Congratulations Mrs. Tuck

Dr. Potts along with Katrina Davis, Director of Federal Programs recognized Mrs. Tuck for her outstanding contributions in her role as an ELL teacher. Not only are our students fortunate to have her support as they learn the english language - our staff is lucky to have her as a co-worker. Thank you Mrs. Tuck for being part of our Cougar community!

Mr. Gobbell, Ms. Whittington and Ms. A. Jones for being the grade level leaders. Each of these homerooms will have a pizza party courtesy of Dr. Potts. Thank you all for your support!

Rising 8th Graders Going To High School

We encourage our rising 8th graders and guardians to start following the social media of their intended High School. High Schools are beginning to gather interest for the 25/26 school year. While we try to pass along information, we don't always know what appeals to every student. We encourage you to start communicating with the high schools regarding your areas of interest.
