Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Friends,

It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at E. A. Cox Middle School! As I begin my second year as principal at CMS, I am filled with gratitude and pride to continue serving this amazing school community — a place that has always held a special place in my heart since I helped open its doors in 1997.

Over the past year, I’ve had the privilege of reconnecting with students, families, staff, and community partners who are all deeply invested in making Cox the best it can be. Together, we’ve laid the foundation for a strong return to academic excellence and a school culture rooted in respect, responsibility, and relationships. This year, we are building on that momentum — and our focus is clear: Every Minute Matters. From the moment students walk in the door to the final bell, we are committed to making the most of every instructional minute to help our kids grow.

We are working hard every day to create a climate and culture where all students feel supported, challenged, and inspired. Whether it’s in the classroom, on the athletic field, or through clubs and activities, our goal is to ensure each child is learning and thriving.

Professionally, I bring over 31 years of experience in education, including 10 years as principal at Spring Hill High School. My journey began with a Bachelor’s degree from MTSU, followed by 10 years of teaching middle school science. I later earned a Master of Education from MTSU and a doctorate in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University — all while teaching here at CMS. My decision to move into school leadership was fueled by my deep belief in the power of public education to transform lives, and that belief continues to guide me every day.

Relationships are at the heart of everything we do. You’ll find me walking the halls, visiting classrooms, and attending school events — connecting with our students and families. I view every child who walks through our doors as my child, and I’m honored to work alongside our exceptional staff to help them grow into their fullest potential.
